Travel and Goals

Week 5:

14 to-dos: 11 completed 2 progress made 1 untouched

One of the reasons New Year’s Resolutions can fizzle after a few weeks are sometimes the goals for a whole year are big and hard to keep yourself accountable. Personally I am much more successful when I take those year goals and break them down into quarterly goals that I then break down into weekly goals.

A benefit to weekly goal planning is it is as flexible as you need it to be. Our family got the opportunity to travel this last week. Previously I may have stopped working on any of my goals because oh well, I get to go on vacation! This time I looked at our travel plans and my goals. Then I planned my goals around our going out of town.

I kept in mind what I could do away and what I needed to do at home as I went throughout the week. In the beginning of the week I made sure to do my 3 items on the chore chart – since none of my chores could be done away from the house. But I also didn’t stress about trying to get all 90 minutes of yoga in the beginning of the week because I knew I’d have access to YouTube and I can do yoga without a mat.

Doing this kind of mental exercise helped me be more productive than I had been the last couple of weeks! I’m looking forward to continuing my momentum and my R&R (Also Southwest was amazing!!!)
