Week 9
14 to-dos: 6 completed 6 progress made 2 untouched
After having a second c-section, my core was left a little weak. I noticed I wasn’t able to hold my second son as long as I wanted while I was standing. This led to deciding for one of my quarter 1 goals to build my core strength. I decided to do that via walking and doing yoga.
I aimed to do 90 minutes of yoga a week. I’ve mostly been doing a good job of hitting that goal. But the last couple of weeks, I kept falling a little short of my goal.
Sometimes my son likes to “help” me do yoga.
I use yoga YouTube videos at home because that seemed more feasible than getting out of the house for an hour class. My current favorite instructor is SarahBethYoga. One of the things I love about her is that she has various time lessons (10;15; 20; 30 minute sessions)
Since I was having trouble hitting my 90 minutes in a week goal I decided to also try her 30 day yoga challenge. She gives a little 2 minute video talking about focusing on certain things and then a suggested yoga video to do.
Yesterday’s two minute video was focusing on strength. She talked about how there are different kinds off and on the mat and ended with the question: What are your greatest strengths?
What an amazing question! How often do we ask that of ourselves? So often the focus is to fix something we think is “wrong” or to down play our gifts. But it is important to identity them and embrace them as well.
I even had to really think about the answer to the question. I didn’t automatically go, “Oh, I’m great at xyz!” After some discernment, I decided my current greatest strengths are: my ability to love, my tenacity, and my problem solving skills.
What are your greatest strengths?
