Voicing My Goals

Week 6:

13 to-dos: 12 completed; 1 progress made

I’m coming up for air from my scrap-booking crop weekend. I’d say that I’ve met my weekly goal of 1 hour of scrap-booking this week and next!

One of the things I found helpful to keep me feeling productive and grounded while enjoying the crop was a crop goal check-in from my husband. Before he asked me what my goals for the crop were, I honestly hadn’t thought about it. I suppose I thought I was just going to get as many pages done as I could.

But when he asked, I paused and thought about it. I then told him: get a bingo, earn 20 badges, and finish pages for our 2017 Denver Trip. Context: I’m a member of the pixels2Pages group. They offer all sorts of trainings and digital goodies for their members and every quarter offer a digital crop. The digital crop is the membership in hyper-drive. They offer challenges with detailed instructions, games, how-to-videos and a community of support. This crop one of the games was a bingo card – if you filled up a row or a column by doing pages with certain techniques and then posted it on their facebook group, you’d be entered in a drawing. Every crop they have specific badges – for certain numbers of pages done, how long you’ve been a member, if you’re new, completing some of the challenges, etc.

Now, I’ve been doing these crops since I became a member (5 years ago thanks to my husband’s Aunt Cindy) and it usually takes me forever to get the badges done, and even by getting a ton of pages done, I don’t always feel accomplished. This time, because I outlined my goals and said them out loud, I was more focused and was a lot more successful. In fact, I got all my goals done by 2 and so any extra pages I’ve gotten done have been gravy!

So this week’s take away is remembering to speak your goals out loud – who knows? You may be more productive and more satisfied with your work!
